Little Cog-burt vs Cotton Candy
The first story to come across is "Little Cog-burt" by Phyllis Allfrey. In the story, man named Richard owns a plantation and is accompanied by his wife, Moira. Richard was formally a bank manager, plantation owner was a upgrade. Moira was a doll maker from England. Their ritual was cutting her hair. Moira is impatiently begging her Richard to cut her hair because it is simply just way too hot. They talk about the beautiful poinsettias. Moira made little dolls for her kids before they were sent off to boarding school in England. She is guilty that she sent her kids off. She is bitter that she can not give a party to her own kids. Basically, Richard decides to have a party for the laborers kids on the plantation while, Moira is totally against it and rather be at some fancy dinner instead.
